World Book Day brought a burst of colour, creativity, and community spirit to the Academy today. The entire building felt transformed as staff arrived dressed as much‑loved characters from across the world of literature, turning classrooms and offices into scenes straight out of storybooks.

A Celebration of Stories and Imagination
The enthusiasm across departments made the day feel truly special. Costumes ranged from nostalgic childhood favourites to iconic characters that continue to inspire new generations of readers.

PE Department — Funnybones

The team embraced the classic Funnybones series with full skeleton outfits, capturing the playful spirit of the books and bringing plenty of smiles throughout the day.

Finance Department — Toy Story

From Woody and Buzz to the rest of the gang, the Finance team brought Pixar magic to life. Their costumes were instantly recognisable and added a fun, animated energy to the celebrations.

Reception Team — The Wizard of Oz

Reception became a scene from Oz itself, complete with Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Witch, and the Cowardly Lion. A bright yellow brick road led visitors straight to the desk, creating a wonderful first impression for everyone who walked through the door.  The Reception team received the much sought after prize for best dressed department.

A Day Filled With Joy

The atmosphere was warm, lively, and full of laughter. Staff across the Academy embraced the occasion wholeheartedly, reminding us of the power of stories to bring people together. Whether revisiting childhood favourites or celebrating modern classics, the day highlighted the joy of reading in a memorable way.

A huge well done to everyone who dressed up and contributed to the fun. Your creativity made World Book Day one to remember.
