Exeter Chiefs “Train the Chief's Way” Experience for Year 8 & 9 Girls

A group of our Year 8 and Year 9 girls enjoyed an inspiring and energetic day as they took part in the Exeter Chiefs “Train the Chief's Way” experience, proudly sponsored by Lineal Software Solutions (Barnstaple). The event was hosted at the Killacleave site at Ilfracombe Academy and offered a memorable opportunity for students to develop their rugby skills while engaging with professional coaches.

Throughout the day, Exeter Chief's coaching staff delivered a series of high‑quality training sessions and games designed to challenge, motivate, and build confidence. The girls took part enthusiastically, showing great teamwork, resilience, and a willingness to learn from the experts.

Alongside the physical training, the experience also included:

• Q&A sessions, giving students the chance to learn more about the sport, pathways into rugby, and life as an athlete.
• Presentations, where coaches shared insights into performance, preparation, and the values that underpin the Chief's approach.
• Prize‑giving, celebrating effort, improvement, and standout contributions from the day.

The event was a fantastic opportunity for our students to broaden their sporting experience and represent the academy with pride. Their attitude, engagement, and enthusiasm were exemplary throughout.
