Braunton Academy Surfers Celebrate National Competition Success

19 Jun 26

It has been an incredibly successful and exciting period for our Braunton Academy surfers, who have been flying the flag for the school at a number of prestigious national competitions in recent weeks.

Our talented young athletes have demonstrated outstanding skill, commitment, and determination in highly competitive fields, showcasing not only their individual abilities but also the strength of surfing at Braunton Academy.

A huge congratulations must go to Annie, who delivered an exceptional performance at the English National Championships held at Fistral Beach, Newquay, last weekend. Competing against the country’s best, Annie secured an impressive third-place finish in the Under 16 Girls category. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to her hard work and dedication to the sport.

Equally deserving of recognition is Jack, who also enjoyed a brilliant result earlier this season. At the end of May, Jack competed in the Rip Curl GromSearch and finished third in what was an incredibly tight and thrilling final. In a competition decided by the finest of margins, Jack missed out on first place by just 0.2 points on his wave scores, underlining the high standard of performance he delivered throughout the event.

Both results highlight the strength and depth of surfing talent within Braunton Academy. It is inspiring to see our students competing and succeeding on the national stage, and they serve as fantastic role models for aspiring surfers within the school community.

We are extremely proud of Annie, Jack, and all of our surfers who continue to push themselves with such passion and professionalism. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings!
