Creative Writing Successes at Braunton Academy
It has been an exciting week for creative writing at Braunton Academy, with two of our talented students receiving well‑deserved recognition for their work.
Shore (Year 8) has had her 100‑word flash‑fiction piece selected for publication in Stranger Sagas, the third instalment of the Young Writers series. Tasked with crafting a strange event in just 100 words, Shore had to use foreshadowing and finish on a cliffhanger—no easy challenge, yet she rose to it brilliantly. Her published work will appear alongside other young authors from across the country, and all three books in the series will soon be available in our school library for students to enjoy.
Meanwhile, Flo (Year 9) has been awarded a Highly Commended certificate for her creative piece Blue, submitted to The Page is Printed competition run by the Tacchi Morris Arts Centre in Taunton. This recognition highlights Flo’s originality, voice, and growing confidence as a writer.
Both students have shown impressive creativity and dedication to their craft. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing what they write next.
