A Historic Victory for Braunton Academy

The Exmoor Challenge has always been known for testing the very best in endurance, navigation, and teamwork — and this year, our incredible team of Eliza, Sadie, Murphy, and Rafael rose to the occasion in spectacular style.

Representing Braunton Academy with pride, they were crowned Exmoor Challenge 2025 Champions, receiving their award from Allan Woolley of Exmoor Rotary. But this wasn’t just a win — it was a moment of history.

🌟 A Record-Breaking Achievement

In the challenge’s 37-year legacy, only three teams have ever completed the entire course with zero penalty points. This year, our team became one of them.

That means:

All 8 checkpoints reached
Perfect timing throughout
No navigation errors
No penalties of any kind

A flawless performance on one of the region’s toughest youth endurance events.

The Challenge: 16 Miles of Skill and Determination

The Exmoor Challenge is far more than a long walk. It’s a 16-mile unmarked route across rugged terrain, demanding:

Expert map-reading
Confident compass navigation
Careful time management
Strong team coordination

Only those who complete the course within strict time limits earn a medal — and our team didn’t just meet the standard, they exceeded it with absolute precision.

A Proud Moment for Braunton Academy

This achievement reflects everything we value: resilience, teamwork, independence, and a willingness to push beyond comfort zones. Eliza, Sadie, Murphy, and Rafael demonstrated all of this and more.

Their commitment during training, their focus on the day, and their support for one another made this victory possible.

🎉 Congratulations, Champions

We couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished. Their success will be remembered as one of the standout moments in Braunton Academy’s outdoor education journey.

What a phenomenal way to represent the Academy — and what a legacy to leave behind.
