On the evening of Wednesday 12th November, Braunton Academy students took to the stage of the Landmark Theatre to deliver a truly remarkable performance of Julius Caesar as part of the Coram Shakespeare Festival—the UK’s largest celebration of Shakespeare in schools.

Performing on a professional stage is no small challenge, yet our students rose to the occasion with confidence, intelligence, and flair. Tackling one of Shakespeare’s most political and complex plays, they demonstrated not only a deep understanding of the text but also the ability to bring its timeless themes of power, loyalty, and ambition vividly to life.

✨ The Value of the Stage Opportunities like this are invaluable. Performing in a professional theatre setting pushes students beyond the classroom, demanding discipline, teamwork, and creativity. It allows them to experience the thrill of live performance while learning how to communicate Shakespeare’s language with clarity and conviction. The polished production they delivered was a testament to their hard work and talent.

👏 Pride in Achievement Mr Carroll and Mrs Halpin expressed how proud they were of the students’ dedication and artistry. Their performance was not only a triumph for the festival but also a shining example of what young people can achieve when given the chance to step into the spotlight.

🎭 Looking Ahead For those who missed the Landmark Theatre performance, there is good news: the production will be staged once more at Braunton Academy for Key Stage 3 students before Christmas. This will give the wider school community the chance to enjoy and be inspired by their peers’ outstanding work.

Braunton Academy’s participation in the Coram Shakespeare Festival has shown that when young people are trusted with great challenges, they rise to them magnificently. The evening most certainly a celebration of learning, creativity, and the enduring power of Shakespeare.
