Year 9 Students Explore STEM Futures at Plymouth University

On Friday 6th February, a group of our Year 9 students travelled to Plymouth University to take part in their annual Science and Engineering Showcase. The event brought together experts, researchers and students from across the university to inspire young people and spark curiosity in the world of STEM.

Throughout the day, our students explored a wide range of interactive displays and hands‑on workshops covering everything from robotics and wildlife conservation to earthquake prediction and engineering design. Each activity offered a glimpse into real scientific research and cutting‑edge technology, giving students the chance to experiment, ask questions and discover new interests.

The showcase proved to be highly aspirational, opening students’ eyes to the variety of university courses and career pathways available within STEM subjects. Experiences like this help young people imagine their future possibilities and understand how their classroom learning connects to real‑world innovation.
