A group of our students have been taking part in a series of weekly workshops held every Wednesday, designed to build confidence, teamwork, and practical outdoor skills. These sessions offer a supportive space for students to connect with others who share similar experiences, while also learning something new each week.

This week’s workshop focused on fire lighting and shelter building which took place on the Academy's VOLE (Vocational Outdoor Learning Environment). Under careful guidance, the students learned how to safely create and maintain a small fire, as well as how to construct simple shelters. These activities encouraged problem‑solving, resilience, and collaboration—skills that go far beyond the outdoors.

The group showed fantastic enthusiasm throughout the session, embracing each challenge with determination and curiosity. It’s been wonderful to see them grow in confidence.

We look forward to the next workshop and to seeing the students continue to develop new skills and friendships along the way.
