Duke of Edinburgh Expedition
The Duke of Edinburgh Award in the words of two of our students; Hetty and Millie:-
The Duke of Edinburgh Expedition was a highly rewarding experience for a plethora of reasons. Not only was it a chance to learn a range of new skills that can prepare us for the rest of our lives, but it also gave us an opportunity to see new sides of friends and gain independence through navigating and self sufficiency.
We started at Yenworthy Lodge in Exmoor, a tranquil campsite just beside the beautiful coast path overlooking the clear blue water off Exmoor. We set off in the early morning and spent the day navigating our way through different types of climates, learning about the natural world as we went. What we enjoyed the most was being independent by cooking our own meals and enduring the physical challenge of walking through all different wilderness areas.
The next day we set off again on Exmoor and made our way to Lynmouth where we completed our DofE expedition.
Well done to all the students who took part. On day one they walked 6 hours and 5 hours on the second day. No mean feat.
