Royal Garden Party

This year I had the great privilege to have been nominated by the Lord Lieutenant of Devon’s office to attend the Education and Skills Garden Party on Wednesday 14th May. His Majesty the King gave permission for a garden party to be hosted at Buckingham Palace, supported by the Department for Education, to recognise and celebrate those working in education across the United Kingdom. The garden party brought together 7,000 representatives across educational fields. Guests including teachers, students and key figures in the education sector, alongside live music from the British Army Band Catterick and the Band of The Royal Air Force Regiment.
It was an amazing honour to be nominated and a great excuse for a new outfit and a very big hat! With both Mr Bowler and I being historians, we were very excited to get a glimpse of the Palace from inside the gates and look and observe the pageant and history up close.
