Year 8 Students Visit Braunton Memory Café
This week, Mr Liversedge, Mrs Maxey and four of our Year 8 students had the pleasure of attending the Memory Café in Braunton. The café, held at the Vivian Moon Community Centre, offers a welcoming space for those affected by dementia and their carers to come together, socialise and enjoy supportive activities.
Our students spent the afternoon chatting with members of the group over a cup of tea and a biscuit, sharing stories and building meaningful connections across generations. They were praised for their kindness, confidence and genuine interest in the conversations they had.
The group then enjoyed a presentation titled “Braunton Now and Then”, which explored the village’s history and how it has changed over time — a fascinating experience for both students and attendees.
We are incredibly proud of our students for representing the Academy with such maturity and compassion. Experiences like this strengthen our ties with the local community and help our young people develop empathy, understanding and confidence.
