Youth Cultural Champions - Week 4

Youth Cultural Champions week 4 training session was held on Wednesday 9th July. The students were shown a beautiful traditional celebration dress of Marmarin's, shown in the picture. They heard Somin's story from him.

They also had a hard hitting session on racism discussing the impact that racism had had on their lives. Sadly 10 of the 12 students said they had been racially abused. We discussed reporting systems as well as the school procedure for bullying. 

During the session we did a music quiz with excerpts of music from all around the world played and they had to guess where it was from.

We finished the session with an uplifting bracelet making session where students chose beads to reflect aspects of their culture.

A celebration will conclude the training programme on Wednesday 16th July and students will decide how they want to spread their learning.
