Weekly Parents' Newsletter

05 Sep 25

It is a pleasure to write to you on the first week back at the Academy.  This is the first of the new style Friday newsletter (also available on our website) where you will find all the information for the whole school.  Please make sure you look at the whole school messages that relate to all parents/carers and students as well as the specific ones for the year groups your children are in.

It has been lovely to welcome all the students back and celebrate the successes that the Year 11 students have achieved during the summer.  The Year 11 students did extremely well with 73 grade 9s, 350 grades at 7 or above and all key measures above national average.  Braunton has achieved one of the highest attainment scores in Devon and the Southwest of England. Click on the link for the full press release GCSE Results 2025 - Braunton Academy - Aspire and Achieve .  There are parent events for Year 7, 10 and 11 in the next couple of weeks where we will share more on the summer successes.

A big congratulations to the Year 7s who have had a fantastic start to the year.  All the staff have commented on how well they have settled in over the two days and have given a great first impression.  We have also received very positive feedback from the Summer School Organisers about the students’ conduct and engagement.  We can confirm the summer school will be running again next year for the new Year 7, there will be representatives from Next Steps at the Open Evening on 25th September.

Although it has only been two days, we know that most of the students will be tired this weekend getting back into the school routine.  We all wish you an enjoyable weekend and look forward to seeing all the students again on Monday.

Best wishes,

Mrs Bowler

Principal

Braunton Academy Netball Fixtures - Autumn term 2025

Please find below the current fixture list for the autumn term.

Amendments, cancellations etc. if they occur will be communicated directly to the players.

Further matches will be added as they are confirmed.

Players will be required to wear the school uniform of black shorts, marron t.shirt, sports trainers and white socks to training sessions, on occasions they will borrow the school netball kit for matches, which needs to be returned directly after the match.

Players will be dropped off at Braunton School after away fixtures, unless stated above. If you wish your child to be dropped off elsewhere, please write a note in your child’s planner. Please indicate if this is a regular arrangement.

Due to the significant rises in transport costs, this year we are collecting voluntary contributions towards the cost of sporting fixture transportation. This action has been taken as a last resort in order to ensure that the Academy can continue to participate in our usual fixture lists.  The significant increase in transport costs is now well beyond the transport budget and cannot be increased further.  The Academy will endeavor to provide the same level of engagement in competitive fixtures however, if costs continue to rise and there is not enough engagement from families in supporting with contributions then the Academy will have to reduce the competitive fixture offer for the remainder of the year.  Should you wish to contribute towards this, please send cash in an envelope with your child to hand to the PE staff. Please remember that this is voluntary.
