Scorching Sports Day
The whole school celebrated Sports Day in the sun on June 27th. In the morning every student in the school took part in activities, and for once we were blessed with a beautiful sunny day with no anxieties in the lead-up as to whether we would have to re-arrange. Students who weren't involved with athletics heats took part in rounders, badminton or cycling, then in the afternoon everyone was at the track for finals. The Hockings ice cream van made a welcome appearance again, and Parent Partnership ran a fruit stall.. Students were encouraged to ditch the single use plastic bottle, and instead were offered refills of cool water for their drinking bottles. The music stage featured performances all afternoon by groups and solo artists including year 6/7 band Idol Giants. The event was recorded on video by year 11 pupil, Josh Tucker whose drone buzzed over the field unseen by most. Four school records were beaten, some of which had stood since 1990, and the overall winners were Croyde House.......again! Well done to everyone involved.
