Braunton Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We will always act to protect a child where there is disclosure or concern about child abuse. Child abuse can take a range of different forms. It is any action by another person (adult or child) that causes harm to a child. It can be defined as physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse or neglect. 


If you have concerns that a child in school is at risk of harm, then please let a member of staff know as soon as possible by contacting the school on tel: 01271 812221 and ask to speak to one of the Safeguarding team or contact them directly via email:

How to report a concern out of school hours


Staff training 


We follow all statutory guidelines as well as our own policies and procedures. Our Child Protection and Safeguarding policy can be found click here . Our Level 2 Safeguarding training, which is delivered yearly, follows the Keeping Children Safe in Education document which can be found here: Keeping children safe in education - GOV.UK (


All Level 3 enhanced trained staff wear orange lanyards for easy identification.
