Stormy Thursday in Cornwall
Year 10 GCSE Art and Design students went on the road recently, braving Storm Callum on a trip to Cornwall. A whole day was spent at the Eden Project near St Austell, and students were able to photograph and sketch in the two biomes. An overnight stay at the Youth Hostel close to Eden proved to be a wild and windy affair, although everyone stayed warm and dry in the brilliant "Snooze Pods" which are made from converted shipping containers. The students were well fed at the Eden Project before travelling by coach to St Ives, where they had plenty of time to wander around the Tate Museum and the Barbara Hepworth Museum. Year 10 had many opportunities to hone their skills in observational drawing, and also the chance to see many stunning pieces of sculpture up close.
