Celebrating Achievements

Posted: 22nd November 2016

The annual Prizegiving Ceremony recently took place at Barnstaple Hotel. Former pupils, their parents and Academy staff came together to celebrate the many achievements of those who left us in July. As well as awards in all subject areas, other prizes were also given to recognise service to the school and community, excellent attendance, endeavour in the face of adversity, and more. It's always a pleasure to meet the year 12s again, and see how much they have matured in the months since they took their GCSEs. Guest Speaker for the evening was former pupil, Dan Shapland, who was with us from 2004 until 2009. Dan, having completed his law degree, is now working in Westminster in the parliamentary office of our local MP, Peter Heaton-Jones. He gave pupils some really good advice on getting through the next five years in education or employment, then handed out the cups and trophies to the lucky recipients.
