Cross Country Cup success
Braunton Academy last week participated in the English Schools Cross-Country Cup 1st Round in Taunton, for the first time in over a decade. This is a national schools competition and we were competing against fifteen other schools from the South West region, from Exeter to Bristol. Due to a clash with a netball competition in which many year 7s were taking part, the Junior Girls were under-strength. However, with expert guidance on the day from Mrs Sheppard, herself an accomplished Cross-Country runner, the team finished a creditable 7th.
Both boys teams qualified for the Regional Finals which will be held on Saturday November 7th in Sherborne. The inter-boys finished second while the Junior Boys qualified in first place winning by a massive twenty point margin! Both teams are looking forward to attempting to qualify for the National Finals in Bedford in December.
Meanwhile, the next outing for our Cross Country runners will be the Stephen's Shield on 21st. October.
