Local charity overjoyed at school donations
Representatives from local charity Encompass SouthWest were overwhelmed by the scale of the school's donation to their Christmas appeal. This year we asked pupils and parents to give generously to elderly members of the North Devon community who are living alone and often in isolated rural locations. Donations of food items, Christmas luxuries and everyday necessities were packed into festively wrapped shoeboxes. Most tutor groups collected items to complete a shoebox, and some boxes were donated by individuals and families. A typical box contained various tinned goods, chocolates, fruit cake, warm gloves or hat and a toiletry item. Pets were not forgotten, and dog or cat treats were added to many boxes. In all the school piled over 50 boxes into the car that came from Encompass to make the pick up.
